Every business has a story about how it got started. The bath. cut. brush. Story is no different. Except it is.
My older dog, a chocolate lab named Nestle, was always anxious around other dogs and didn’t trust strangers, making it difficult for my husband and I to leave her at a groomer with other people and dogs around for an unknown amount of time. I started searching for mobile groomers online. There were many choices, but I had to call three before I found one that was able to come to us within a couple of days. The others were booked for weeks or months.
I was delighted when Mobile Pet Shine said they had availability within a couple of days, and I made an appointment with Mobile Pet Shine for both of our dogs. The groomer did a great job, and I rebooked immediately.
After being a customer for about 18 months, I received a call to reschedule my appointment, and I didn’t recognize the number. I asked whether this was the owner, and Tage Harding said yes. Then I did something I don’t normally do. I told him I was a marketing consultant and loved his service. I asked who did their marketing, and he said that he did. We talked about marketing again a few weeks later, and within a few months, we were working together to grow the business.
After about 8 months and much success with our marketing strategies, I mentioned franchising, and Tage was already thinking about that as well. We had a routine meeting after that, focused on routing efficiency, and as we walked out, Tage approached me about partnering with him to franchise a new brand. I was all in.
Mobile Pet Shine grew from one van in 2018 to a successful business with 8 vans in just over four years. We continue to fill our schedules, tighten our routes and add new customers every day, and we are excited to keep moving in this direction.
At the time that we started bath. cut. brush., we decided to start a new brand for franchising, but keep the existing business of Mobile Pet Shine going as is, because of the recognition and success with the brand in the Denver Metro area.
Military Minded
Military and first responders, including teachers, are at the core of keeping our country running, no matter what. They are essential to all of our success, and are too busy to worry about how they are going to get their pets groomed in their limited spare time. That is why we offer discounts to them as our customers, to make things just a little bit easier.
Tage is a former U.S. Marine, and Kim is the owner of Shepheard Marketing, helping businesses grow through strategic marketing practices. Her family members are also active and retired Army, Navy and Coast Guard.
Now here we are, about to sign our first franchisee, and we are planning on taking care of the country’s pets, one at a time. Join us on our adventure!
